2019 Honda Ridgeline Review
The new Honda Ridgeline is a modern, all-purpose pickup designed with the everyday driver in mind. This truck has a lot to offer your commutes in and around the Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and North Port areas, as you’ll see in this 2019 Honda Ridgeline review from Port Charlotte Honda.
2019 Honda Ridgeline Truck Bed
The stand-out feature that we’ll be covering in our 2019 Honda Ridgeline review is the innovative bed. When it comes to getting the job done, or bringing your materials on the road, the bed is a major component to any pickup truck.
Not only can it carry 39.2 cubic feet of cargo comfortably, but it also comes with a locking in-bed trunk that provides an additional 7.3 cubic feet of space. It’s also designed with minimal wheel well housings to maximize usable space.
This bed stretches to 64 inches long and has a payload capacity of 1,465 pounds. That’s more than the weight of a grand piano! You can access your cargo by flipping the tailgate down, or by opening it to the side for easier loading and unloading.
But this bed isn’t all work—it also knows how to play. It makes a 150W/400W outlet available in the wall of the bed that lets you plug tools right into the truck, or even watch TV while tailgating during the big game.
When you and your truck reach your worksite, you can also turn up the tunes on the available Truck Bed Audio System, which uses speakers embedded in the truck bed walls to play your favorite music from your paired phone.
Honda Ridgeline Performance and Capability
In addition to its versatility, the 2019 Honda Ridgeline is also very capable. It comes equipped with a V6 engine that pumps out 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed Automatic Transmission, and the higher trims add the Heavy-Duty Transmission Cooler to keep the transmission at an optimal temperature during significant hauling/towing.
The Ridgeline can be operated in a standard front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), which also includes the available Intelligent Traction Management System.
This system lets you custom-pick your driving style based on the conditions you face. You can choose from four available drive modes at the push of a button under the gearshift. These are:
- Normal
- Snow
- Mud
- Sand
With the right drive mode selected, you can enjoy enhanced stability and improved grip, whether you’re launching a boat in the ocean, or taking a road trip to the Everglades.
The Variable Cylinder Managementâ„¢ is a feature that reduces the use of all six cylinders to just three during routine performance to save on fuel usage and improve the overall fuel economy of the vehicle.
The Direct Injection is a feature that also assists with fuel efficiency, in that it pumps fuel directly into the combustion chamber, which reduces unnecessary fuel waste and provides the engine with the fuel it needs based on its current performance.
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline with FWD gets an EPA-estimated 19/26/22 MPG city/highway/combined.1 When equipped with AWD, the Honda Ridgeline gets an EPA-estimated 18/25/21 MPG city/highway/combined.1
Honda Ridgeline Towing Capacity
The 2019 Ridgeline offers a range of abilities to help drivers and workers when it’s time to bring along some significant materials or equipment to your destination. Whether it’s jet skis, a boat, or even track loaders for the job site, the Ridgeline offers some impressive capabilities when it comes to towing and payload.
When configured with FWD, the Ridgeline can effectively tow up to 3,500 pounds and carry up to 1,465 pounds of payload.2 Choosing the Ridgeline when outfitted with AWD will increase the vehicle’s overall towing and payload abilities. The 2019 Honda Ridgeline AWD can tow up to 5,000 pounds (when properly equipped with accessory towing equipment) and can carry up to 1,580 pounds of payload.2
Pickup Truck Audio Entertainment & Connectivity
Even though you may use the 2019 Honda Ridgeline towing and performance abilities for work, the inside of the cabin offers plenty of doses of fun for the work day!
The truck includes the 5-inch dashboard-mounted Color LCD screen to access your assortment of audio entertainment options to play through the truck’s 7-speaker sound system. The vehicle also includes the Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, which functions for connecting your smartphone to the sound system for hands-free phone calls from the road, as well as streaming audio entertainment from your library and apps. The Speed-Sensitive Volume Control ensures that your listening doesn’t get interrupted from the loud noise from the engine performance.
2019 Ridgeline Technology
The new Ridgeline doesn’t just sport a modern design—it also includes modern-day technology that you can take with you on every drive.
Before you even open the front door, the Ridgeline starts working for you with available remote start, which can get your truck started and heated or cooled, so it’s at the perfect temperature when you take your seat behind the wheel.
You can also take advantage of the available Honda LaneWatchâ„¢ feature when merging on the highway. This feature is especially helpful when towing, because it broadcasts a video of the traffic in your intended lane on the Display Audio Screen. This can provide up to four times more visibility than a side-view mirror alone.
