2020 Honda Odyssey Review
The Honda Odyssey has been helping families travel around the Fort Myers, Port Charlotte, and North Port areas since the first model was released in 1995. Today, you’ll likely see several of them on the road at any given time—and for good reason. The Odyssey offers top-notch safety, more than enough cabin space, and a drive train that won’t break the bank.
We at Port Charlotte Honda put together this 2020 Honda Odyssey review to better educate drivers on the options for their next family minivan. If you’re in the market for a new family transportation machine, continue reading to get the run-down on this year’s Honda Odyssey.
Efficient & Fun to Drive
Whether you’re frequently on carpool duty or often make road trips, the new Honda Odyssey has an engine that anyone can appreciate.
Under the hood, you’ll find an efficient 3.5L V6 equipped with Eco Assist™ System, Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®), and an Active Control Engine Mount System (ACM) mated to a 10-Speed Automatic Transmission (10AT). The Odyssey achieves an EPA-estimated 19 city/28 highway MPG with its EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims.*
An intriguing feature for the performance-oriented driver turned parent is the transmission’s Shift-By-Wire technology. Conveniently located paddle shifters let you seamlessly switch between automatic and manual-type shifting.
Spaciously Minded for People & Cargo
The Honda Odyssey accommodates up to seven or eight people, depending on the trim level. Stay comfy in the front row thanks to an 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passengers’ seat. To make entering the Odyssey easier, the EX trim and above is fitted with Magic Slide 2nd-Row Seats™ with a walk-in feature. That means no more smushed siblings upon getting in or out.
When it comes to overall interior space, there’s more than enough to split between passengers and gear. For example, headroom measures in at 40.7 inches in the first row, 39.5 inches in the second, and 38.3 inches in the third.
You can expect up to 32.8 cubic feet of storage behind the backseat. However, if you regularly need more room for cargo, fold down the third row for up to 88.8 cubic feet and up to 144.9 cubic feet when both rear rows are laid flat.
A Robust Safety Suite
Honda is well-known for its commitment to safety, and it shows in the 2020 Odyssey. The LX trim comes standard with a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and Vehicle Stability Assist™ with Traction Control.
These features allow you to back out of a tight parking space and get on the road to your child’s soccer tournament, even when there’s a torrential rainstorm overhead.
Like all Honda vehicles, the Odyssey is built on the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure. It’s designed to redistribute impact energy from a frontal collision around the passenger cabin.
If you choose the EX trim or above, you’ll have access to the entire Honda Sensing® suite, including a Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) and a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).
